GENERAL DESCRIPTION Pruett-Schaffer’s #69-3 Clear Urethane is an very fast air-drying, water based, acrylic polyester urethane coating. It is designed as a high gloss, spray applied clear finish coat for a variety of exterior or interior maintenance applications. It exhibits good film hardness and flexibility, and excellent water, solvent, and abrasion resistance. RECOMMENDED USES This product is recommended for general maintenance use on a variety of substrates including existing coatings, cold rolled steel, aluminum, concrete, plastics, and composites. It will provide long term, cost effective protection against water, salt, oil, chemicals, and alkali cleaners. SURFACE PREPARATION At a minimum for acceptable performance, surfaces to be coated must be clean and dry, free of oil/grease, loose rust/paint, weld spatter, burning slag, dust, and chalk. Feather all rough or sharp edges. Existing coatings must be tightly adhering. Some well-cured existing coatings may need to be deglossed by sanding or abrasion for this coating to develop its best adhesion; test patches should be made to determine if adhesion is adequate. THINNING Add a little water at a time with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by volume. APPLICATION EQUIPMENT Air assisted or airless spray application is preferred. Use a .017-.020 inch tip. May be applied by brush or roller. Brushes should be of polyester or nylon construction. Rollers should have a nap thickness of 1/4 to 3/8 inch. Apply to 4-8 mils wet film thickness (1-2 mils dry film thickness). |
DRYING TIME Dries set to touch in less than 15 minutes, dries hard in 30 minutes at 77 0F and 55% R.H. Force drying ovens may be used, do not exceed 300 0F; allow 5 minutes minimum for flashoff of solvent before heating.CLEANUP Clean equipment with warm soap and water before the film dries.
