GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Pruett-Schaffer’s #69-8-1 Clear Polyurethane is a very fast air-drying, water based, urethane coating. It is designed as a high gloss, spray-applied, finish coat for aluminum, steel or concrete surfaces in exterior exposures. It exhibits good film hardness and flexibility, and excellent water, solvent, and abrasion resistance. It has an internal self-crosslinking mechanism for improved chemical resistance properties.
RECOMMENDED USES
This product is designed for use where high slip and abrasion resistance properties are necessary. It will provide cost effective protection against water, salt, oil, chemicals, and alkali cleaners.
SURFACE PREPARATION
At a minimum for acceptable performance, surfaces to be coated must be clean and dry, free of oil/grease, loose rust/paint, weld spatter, burning slag, dust, and chalk. Feather all rough or sharp edges.
Some well-cured existing coatings may need to be de-glossed by sanding or abrasion for this coating to develop its best adhesion; test patches should be made to determine if adhesion is adequate.
|
THINNING
Add a little water at a time with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by volume.
APPLICATION EQUIPMENT
Air assisted, airless spray, pressure pot or siphon cup guns may be used. May be applied by brush or roller. Brushes should be of polyester or nylon construction. Rollers should have a nap thickness of 1/4 to 3/8 inch. Apply to 4-8 mils wet film thickness (1-2 mils dry film thickness).
DRYING TIME
Dries set to touch in less than 15 minutes, dries hard in 30 minutes at 77 F and 55 % Relative Humidity. Force drying ovens may be used, do not exceed 300 F; allow 15 minutes minimum for flashoff of solvent before heating. Air-dried coatings should dry for 7+ days at 770F before solvent cleaning is possible.
CLEANUP
Clean equipment with warm soap and water before the film dries.
