MACK BLUE POLYURETHANE MIXED SYSTEM |
|
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
66-5 Blue Polyurethane is a two component, air drying, solvent thinned, polyisocyanate cured polyester coating. It is designed as a spray applied, heavy duty, high gloss topcoat or direct to metal anticorrosive coating.
RECOMMENDED USES
Use to protect metal from corrosion in aggressive environments where chemicals, acid, alkali, salt, water, fuels, and oils are present. This coating exhibits excellent flexibility and resistance to impact cracking, and has excellent adhesion to difficult metal substrates. It is not recommended for constant immersion service.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove all oil, grease or foreign substances with chemical, detergent or solvent cleaning.
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
Mix 2 parts by volume #66-5-A Blue with 1 part 66-5-B Hardener. It is HIGHLY recommended that this product should be applied with plural component spray equipment ONLY if used as a direct to metal system without primer. 66-5-A Component will not dry unless mixed with 66-5-B!

THINNING
Thin if necessary for spraying with methyl isobutyl ketone. Add a little solvent at a time to the mixed system with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by volume. If VOC is to be maintained thin with either Tertiary Butyl Acetate or Acetone.
APPLICATION EQUIPMENT
For best results use airless or air-assisted airless spray. Apply at 3 to 3.5 mils wet film thickness to yield 2 mils dry film thickness. Best results are obtained from films of 1-2 dry mils, films thicker than 2 mils may bubble. Apply when air and substrate temperatures are between 50-110 F.
CURE TIMES & TEMPERATURES
Cures set-to-touch in 3 to 5 hours at 75 F, cures to handle in 24 hours. Although re-coating is not normally necessary, the coating may be touched up or recoated. The recoat window is 8 to 48 hours; waiting longer may result in reduced adhesion of the second coat. Allow 7-10 days cure at 75 F before placing into severe service, longer cure times may be necessary if the ambient temperature is significantly lower.

CLEANUP
Clean equipment with xylol or methyl isobutyl ketone before the film cures.

This product contains no lead, chromate, or zinc.
