CLEAR URETHANE HARDENER |

GENERAL
DESCRIPTION Pruett-Schaffer’s
#66-13333 Clear Urethane Hardener is the hardener component of a two
component, air drying, solvent thinned, polyisocyanate cured polyester
coating. The mixed coating is
available in clear, red, gray, and green. It is designed as a spray applied,
heavy duty, high gloss direct to metal anticorrosive coating. RECOMMENDED
USES Use
to protect metal conduit from corrosion in aggressive environments where
chemicals, acid, alkali, salt, water, fuels, and oils are present. This coating exhibits excellent
flexibility and resistance to impact cracking, and has very good adhesion to
difficult metal substrates. It is not recommended for immersion service. SURFACE
PREPARATION Remove all oil, grease or foreign substances with chemical, detergent or solvent cleaning. MIXING
INSTRUCTIONS Mix
3 parts by volume “A” side in color desired with 1 part 66-13333 Hardener.
Product should be applied with plural component spray equipment ONLY. 66-13333 component will not dry unless mixed with 66-series “A”
component. |
THINNING Thin
mixed system if necessary for spraying with xylol or methyl isobutyl
ketone. Add a little solvent at a
time to the mixed system with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by
volume. APPLICATION
EQUIPMENT May
be applied by air assisted or airless spray. Diameter of conduit will
determine tip size to use. Apply at 5
mils wet film thickness to yield 2 mils dry film thickness. Best results are obtained from films of
1-2 dry mils, films thicker than 2 mils may bubble. Apply when air and substrate temperatures are between 50-110 0F. CURE
TIMES & TEMPERATURES Cures
set-to-touch in 1.5 to 3 hours at 75 0F, cures to handle in 24 hours. Although re-coating is not normally
necessary, the coating may be touched
up or recoated. The recoat window is
8 to 48 hours; waiting longer may result in reduced adhesion of the second
coat. Allow 7-10 days cure at 75 0F before placing into severe service,
longer cure times may be necessary if the ambient temperature is
significantly lower. |
