SENSATIONAL SAND WATERBASED URETHANE-ACRYLIC |
|
GENERAL
DESCRIPTION Pruett-Schaffer’s
#63-1 Sand Urethane is a very fast air-drying, self curing, water based,
acrylic urethane coating. It is designed
as a low gloss, spray or roll applied finish coat for general equipment and
flexible substrates maintenance applications. It exhibits good film hardness
and flexibility, and excellent water, solvent, and abrasion resistance. RECOMMENDED
USES This
product is recommended for maintenance use
over various substrates including cold rolled steel, aluminum,
plastics, composites, cement block and existing coatings. It will provide
long term, cost effective protection against water, salt, oil, chemicals, and
alkali cleaners. SURFACE
PREPARATION At
a minimum for acceptable performance, surfaces to be coated must be clean and
dry, free of oil/grease, loose rust/paint, weld spatter, burning slag, dust,
and chalk. Feather all rough or sharp
edges. Existing coatings must be tightly adhering. |
Some
well-cured existing coatings may need to be deglossed by sanding or abrasion
for this coating to develop its best adhesion; test patches should be made to
determine if adhesion is adequate. THINNING Add
water slowly with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by volume. APPLICATION
EQUIPMENT Air
assisted or airless spray application is preferred. Use a .017-. 020 inch
tip. May be applied by brush or roller.
Brushes should be of polyester or nylon construction. Rollers should
have a nap thickness of 1/4 to 3/8
inch. Apply to 4-8 mils wet film
thickness (2-3 mils dry film thickness). DRYING
TIME Dries
set to touch in 30 minutes and dries hard in 1 hour at 77 0F and 55% R.H. Force drying ovens may be used, do
not exceed 250 0F; allow 15 minutes minimum for
flashoff of solvent before heating. CLEANUP Clean equipment
with room temperature soap and water before the film dries. |
ENVIRONMENTAL This
product meets current air pollution regulations regarding hydrocarbon and
ozone reactive emissions. It is VOC
compliant for most industrial applications, and contains no chromates, lead
or free isocyanate. PHYSICAL PARAMETERS VOC, ASTM
