GENERAL DESCRIPTION Pruett-Schaffer’s #50-12520-1 is a single component, fast air-drying, solvent based, ester gum/natural hydrocarbon resin based varnish. This compound is designed to meet Westinghouse Electric Corporation Specification B-440 (W. E. Code 32411AJ00V) for use in proprietary applications. This version contains xylol as a solvent, which provides a better dry rate and stability (low viscosity increase and separation). RECOMMENDED USES This product can be applied by brush, spray, or roller, and will dry in normal room temperatures in 30-60 minutes. It exhibits good surface wetting properties for ease of use over difficult to clean substrates. The coating has excellent heat and water resistance, but is not recommended for long term exposure to hydrocarbon solvents, oil, gasoline, or other fuels. The coating is not normally topcoated. SURFACE PREPARATION For best performance, new metal or ceramic substrates should be clean, dry, and free of oil or grease. Concrete should have all form release oils, curing membranes and dust removed. This coating is very tolerant of less than perfect surface preparation, but all rough or sharp edges should be rounded or smoothed before application.		THINNING Under normal conditions no thinning is necessary. Thin if necessary for spraying with xylol, toluol, mineral spirits, or aromatic naphtha. Add a little at a time with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by volume. In ambient temperatures over 85 ⁰F use Aromatic 100 or Aromatic 150 to minimize "dry spraying". APPLICATION EQUIPMENT May be applied by roller, brush, air-assisted spray, or airless spray. Airless spray gives the best results, use .015-. 020 inch tip size. Brushes should be of polyester or nylon construction. If applying with a cup type spray gun, thinning may improve application properties. Apply as per spec. A 9-12 mil wet film thickness will yield a 3-4 mil dry film thickness. DRYING TIME Dries tack free in 30-60 minutes at 70 ⁰F when applied at a wet film thickness of 6-8 mils. CLEANUP Clean equipment with xylol or toluol before the film dries. ENVIRONMENTAL This product contains no lead, chromate, or zinc.
