GENERAL
DESCRIPTION Pruett-Schaffer’s
#29-50 White Paint is an air-drying, water based emulsion paint. It is designed as a temporary spray
applied, membrane-coating system. It
offers a cost-effective alternative to other more expensive methods of
removing overspray from spray booths, lights and walls. Strippable coating acts as a barrier
between the wet paint overspray and the clean metal spray booth surface,
which should be easily removed in large sheets during booth maintenance. This
coating allows high film build without sags and good reflectance properties
for better visibility. It exhibits all of the desirable properties of
standard water based products such as low VOC, toxicity and odor with
non-flammability and soap and water cleanup. RECOMMENDED
USES This
product is recommended for new installation over metal, or cleaned smooth
surfaces. Dried paint, dirt and
overspray buildup increase surface profile and porosity which will cause the
strippable coating to come off in smaller pieces rather than large sheets! CLEANUP Clean
equipment with warm soap and water before the film dries. |
DRYING
TIME Dry
time will depend on substrate temperature, relative humidity, wind and solar
conditions, and film thickness. A 5-6 mil-wet film will cure in approximately
30-40 minutes at 77 deg F. and 50% relative humidity. A
5 mil wet film will dry down
to a 2.5 mil thick film (the minimum recommended film thickness) with
enough strength to not break apart when pulled. Thicker films will provide
better cohesive strength allowing easier strippability. SURFACE
PREPARATION At a minimum for acceptable performance,
all surfaces to be coated must be mechanically sound and free of oil/grease,
loose rust/paint and overspray buildup.
The smoother the surface the better the strippability. THINNING Under
normal conditions no thinning is necessary or desirable. Thin if necessary with water only do not
use organic solvents or oils. Add
water a little at a time with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by
volume. ENVIRONMENTAL This
product meets current air pollution regulations regarding hydrocarbon and
ozone reactive emissions. It contains
no lead, chromate, or zinc. |
APPLICATION
EQUIPMENT May
be applied by airless or conventional spray.
Airless spray gives the best results, and is highly recommended for
large jobs. Use a 30: 1 ratio drum or pail pump with a 3-4 gallon per minute
capacity, a hydraulic metal braid hose with a working pressure of 2500 psi,
and a .018-. 021 inch. For
conventional use a pressure tank, fluid pressure 20psi, and atomizing pressure of 40-50 psi. APPLICATION
INSTRUCTIONS Note: do not apply
when air or substrate temperature is below 50 deg. F. or
at least 5 deg. F above the
dew point. Do not agitate during application. Vigorous agitation will cause bubbling & can reduce the
viscosity of the coating causing
excessive sags. Increase fluid
pressure of spray rather than adding water if having difficulties
spraying. PHYSICAL
