GENERAL
DESCRIPTION Pruett-Schaffer’s
#29-42 White Latex Semi Gloss is a latex paint for interior maintenance. It is a PVA/Acrylic blend with good film
characteristics at a low cost. RECOMMENDED
USES This
product may be used on dry wall, cinder block, concrete block and properly
sealed wood. Although 29-42 is not a
rust inhibitive coating, it may be used on most interior steel pipes. Do not use on galvanized metal. SURFACE
PREPARATION Apply
as a direct-to-metal topcoat or over primer.
For best results in DTM service, substrates should be blasted to
SSPC-SP-6 minimum, with a 1-mil blast profile. Feather all rough or sharp edges. This coating is very tolerant of less than perfect surface
preparation, so chemical cleaning, water blasting, or even hand or power tool
cleaning may be sufficient, depending on the level of service required. At a
minimum for acceptable performance, all surfaces to be coated must be clean,
dry, and free of oil and grease, loose rust and paint, weld spatter, burning
slag, dust, and chalk. |
THINNING Under
normal conditions, no thinning is necessary or desirable. Thin if necessary for proper spraying with
an 80/20 mixture of water/butyl cellosolve (Pruett-Schaffer Thinner
#98-8937). Add thinner a little at a
time with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by volume. APPLICATION
EQUIPMENT This
paint may be applied by air-assisted,
or airless spray, roller, or brush.
Apply 2-4 mils dry film
thickness. DRYING
TIME Dries
tack free in 15-30 minutes at 77 0F and 50% Relative Humidity. Light handling may be possible in 30
minutes. High humidity will prolong dry time more so than low temperatures.
To speed the dry time good air movement over the work and local exhaust is
recommended. Heat lamps or forced
warm air-drying will reduce dry time in cold shops. CLEANUP Clean
equipment with warm soap and water or water/butyl cellosolve in an 80/20
mixture before the film dries. Run ethyl alcohol through spray guns after
cleaning to prevent corrosion of steel parts. |
ENVIRONMENTAL This
product meets current air pollution regulations regarding hydrocarbon and
ozone reactive emissions. It contains
no lead or chromate, and complies with current federal regulations regarding
the use of lead in paint. PHYSICAL
