LIGHT YELLOW PVDC LINING |

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Pruett-Schaffer’s #27-8 Yellow Lining is a high performance, fast air-drying, water based basecoat. It is formulated from a very dense polyvinylidene copolymer, which imparts very good abrasion resistance to the resulting film. This coating has very good adhesion to a variety of substrates, and is suitable for both interior and exterior use. It exhibits excellent acid, caustic, salt, chemical, and solvent resistance.
RECOMMENDED USES
This product is recommended for use as a spray-applied, corrosion- resistant basecoat or intermediate coating for aluminum substrates. May be used in extremely corrosive environments. This product can be used as a basecoat under both water & solvent based topcoats. This coating is not recommended for water immersion service or for areas subject to constant temperatures in excess of 180 F. Long term exposure to excessive temperatures will result in release of Hydrochloric acid causing corrosion.
SURFACE PREPARATION
At a minimum for acceptable performance, all surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry and free of oil/grease, loose paint, weld spatter, burning slag, dust, and chalk.

THINNING
Under normal conditions, no thinning is necessary or desirable. Thin if necessary for proper spraying with water. Add thinner a little at a time with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by volume.
APPLICATION EQUIPMENT
This paint may be applied by brush or roller or spray equipment, but air-assisted or airless spray is the preferred method. Brushes should be of polyester or nylon construction. Use roller covers with 3/8- to 1/4-inch nap. Spray equipment should be stainless steel. Use spray tips of 0.015-0.020 inch.
DRYING TIME
6-12 mils wet dries tack free in 1-3 hours at 77 F and 50% Relative Humidity. Allow to dry for 1 hour if recoating with 2-component paints containing active solvents such as ketones. High humidity will prolong the dry time more so than low temperatures. To speed the dry time, good air movement over the work and local exhaust is recommended. Forced warm air-drying will reduce the dry time in cold shops, but heat lamps are not recommended as they cause accelerated surface drying and trap solvent within the paint film.
CLEANUP
Clean equipment with warm soap and

water before the film dries. Run ethyl alcohol through spray guns after cleaning to prevent corrosion of steel parts.
ENVIRONMENTAL
This product meets current air pollution regulations regarding hydrocarbon and ozone reactive emissions, and is VOC compliant for the railcar and architectural maintenance industries. It contains no chromate and complies with current federal regulations regarding the use of lead in paint.
