GENERAL DESCRIPTION Pruett-Schaffer’s #22-26 White Epoxy Primer is a two component, water based, amine cured epoxy for use where good chemical resistance is needed. It is designed as a semi gloss, spray applied, corrosion resistant, heavy duty, primer. It exhibits excellent adhesion, including untreated aluminum, over a wide variety of substrates, and has very good abrasion, corrosion, water and chemical resistance in a low odor water reducible system.
RECOMMENDED USES Use to protect machinery, tanks, railcars and structures from corrosion in aggressive environments where chemicals, salt, water, fuels, and oils are present. As formulated, the product passed FDA extraction testing for direct contact with food & allow high film build in one pass to protect hard to cover sharp edges. May also be used as an encapsulation coating. This formula will chalk on long term exposure to sunlight.
SURFACE PREPARATION For severe service, metal substrates should be blasted to an SSPC-SP-10 white metal blast with a 1.5 +/- .5 mil blast profile. An SP-6 commercial blast may be sufficient for many repair applications with less severe requirements. It can be applied over tightly adhering existing coatings. Degreasing and hand tool cleaning, power washing, brush blasting, sanding, or a combination of these methods may be acceptable for use over existing coatings.
All surfaces to be coated must be clean, dry, and free of oil and grease, loose rust and paint, weld spatter, burning slag, dust, and chalk.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS Mix 4 parts by volume #22-26-A with 1 part 22-26-B Hardener. Mix at slow speed to avoid entraining air into the paint. Plural component equipment may be used set to 4:1 (A:B). Do not use heating in the lines or on the drums. Use at once, there is no induction time. Do not reuse previously used mixing containers; partially cured material will greatly accelerate the cure of the freshly mixed paint resulting in dramatically reduced pot life.
THINNING Thin if necessary for spraying, thin with water. Add a little at a time to the mixed system with constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 1% by volume. If product has “set to touch” it may be necessary to use a solvent like Xylol to remove it before totally cured.
APPLICATION EQUIPMENT May be applied by brush, roller or airless spray. Airless spray gives the best results, use .015-.020 inch tip size. 3000-3500 psi at the pump. Apply 8-12 mils wet film thickness to yield 4-6 mils dry film thickness. Brushes should be of polyester or nylon construction. 66 series anti-graffiti coatings can be applied over 22-26 in 4 hours to 10 days dry.
CURE TIMES & TEMPERATURES Dry Film Thickness 2-4 mils Dry Times (ASTM D-5895B) Set to touch .3 hrs Cotton free .5 hrs Through 1.5 hrs Pencil hardness (ASTM D-1186) 24 hrs F 14 days F

CLEANUP Clean equipment with water while wet. Use xylol or toluol before the film cures if no longer water soluble.
TOUCH UP
Touch up areas can be lightly sanded and recoated. Sanding is not necessary if recoated up to 48 hours after original coating is applied.
