GENERAL
DESCRIPTION Pruett-Schaffer’s
#20-35 Yellow is a fast drying, low gloss marking paint. It is an Acrylic blend with good film
characteristics at a low cost. It is extremely low in VOC. RECOMMENDED
USES This
product may be used for temporary or permanent marking of steel or other
substrates. It provides protection on interior surfaces not exposed to
weathering or harsh environment.
Although 20-35 does not contain rust inhibitors, the acrylic vehicle
will prevent corrosion for up to 6 months on exterior exposure. SURFACE
PREPARATION Apply
as a direct-to-metal primer. At a
minimum for acceptable performance, all surfaces to be coated must be clean,
dry, and free of oil and grease, loose rust and paint, weld spatter, burning
slag, dust, and chalk. THINNING Under
normal conditions, no thinning is necessary or desirable. Thin if necessary |
for
proper spraying with an 80/20 mixture of water/butyl cellosolve ( Pruett-Schaffer Thinner #98-8937). Add thinner a little at a time with
constant gentle agitation to a maximum of 5% by volume. APPLICATION
EQUIPMENT This
paint may be applied by
air-assisted, airless
spray, conventional or pressure pot equipment. DRYING
TIME Dries
tack free in 15-30 minutes at 77 0F and 50% Relative Humidity. Light handling may be possible in 30
minutes. High humidity will prolong dry time more so than low temperatures.
To speed the dry time good air movement over the work and local exhaust is
recommended. Heat lamps or forced warm
air-drying will reduce dry time in cold shops. CLEANUP Clean
equipment with warm soap and water or water/butyl cellosolve in an 80/20
mixture before the film dries. Run ethyl alcohol through spray guns after
cleaning to prevent corrosion of steel parts. |
ENVIRONMENTAL This
product meets current air pollution regulations regarding hydrocarbon and
ozone reactive emissions. It contains
no lead or chromate, and complies with current federal regulations regarding
the use of lead in paint. PHYSICAL
